We would like to release our USA Specials in time for Christmas 2022. In order to do this, we need to reach our goal by the end of March 2022; to allow filming to commence immediately afterwards.

We may require the best part of a year travelling all over the USA. As such, we need enough financial backing to allow for this.

While we sell DVDs and Digital content, there is nowhere near sufficient income to make special trips like this AND keep producing SLIPs at the same time. This project simply cannot happen without your support.

Fees:

Paypal shall charge a commission of 3% per transaction fee assuming the target is met. FEES MAY ADD UP TO APPROXIMATLY £900

Can I Give More Than Once?

 

Of course! 

You can set a monthly donation via the 'Donate' option. Or you can pay for more than one 'Perk' option throughout the course of the campaign. We shall simply add up the total you have contributed and reward you with what you have paid for.

If you cannot contribute, you can still share our campaign to those who can. If our previous crowdfunding campaigns have taught us anything, it's that a little word goes a long way.

Why Did You Choose These Locomotives In Particular?

 

On 'Steam Locos In Profile', we have always tried to review a blend of popular and well-known types alongside a selection of more understated and lesser-known ones. The choices we made represent a cross section of interest and variety. The world is very likely to be familiar with the Big Boys, Shays and 'American' 4-4-0s, due to their representation in railway circles. But engines like the Mount Washington fleet and the J&L 0-4-0STs do not get quite so much attention. 

 

Why Are You Not Running This Through A Crowdfunding Website?

 

Traditional crowdfunding websites such as Kickstarter and IndiGoGo charge higher transaction and insertion fees. Put simply, the higher the fees, the more money we would need to raise. By running this campaign through my own website, the transaction fees shall be kept to a minimum.

Why Are You Not Funding This Project Yourself?

 

While we sell previous episodes on DVD and Digital Download, SLIPs has never made the sort of money we are asking for. Furthermore, any money SLIPs does make continues to go back into producing the show as it stands in the UK. This leaves nothing for extravagant overseas trips like these. 

 

Why Don’t You Ask USA Residents To Film For You?

 

UK and USA cameras shoot at different frame rates. UK cameras film at 25fps, while USA equipment shoots at 29.97fps. Converting one to the other adequately is a painstaking and defective process.

While we appreciate offers from people to help, we don’t expect anyone to work for free. So, we shall still have to raise thousands of pounds in order to pay for the amount of footage we are trying to capture.  

Also, it won’t be ‘Steam Locos In Profile’ if other people are making it!

 

What Happens If You Don't Reach Your Goal?

 

We have every confidence in the loyalty and support from all of you to allow us to undertake the minimum stages of this project. However, if we fall short of any goals by our deadline, we shall make every attempt to provide the rest of the funds from other sources. If global circumstances occur which may endanger our crew or force us to cancel anything, we shall send a notification via the 'Steam Locos In Profile' Facebook page. This will allow you to request a refund of your donation (minus PayPal fees), provided any rewards received are returned in the condition in which they were sent.
